South Texas Vocational Technical Institute-San Antonio Honored with the Graduate of the Year Award by Accreditation Agency in Recognition of 2015 HVAC Program Graduate Johnny Trevino
(RESTIN, VA) September 30, 2022 — South Texas Vocational Technical Institute in San Antonio, TX (STVT-SA) was recently honored by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC) during the organization’s annual Professional Development Conference (PDC) in Reston, VA. STVT-SA received the Outstanding Graduate of the Year Award in recognition of Johnny Trevino, a 2015 graduate of STVT-SA’s Air Conditioning, Heating, & Refrigeration (HVAC) training program. STVT-SA is part of Ancora Education network of post-secondary schools, a leading workforce solutions provider.

Johnny Trevino joined our HVAC program because he knew learning a trade like HVAC could lead to a better life for he and his family. Despite the sacrifices he made during the program, Johnny stayed motivated and dedicated to his goals,” said Rogelio Medina, Executive Director of STVT-SA. “Johnny was a solid student who earned several awards during his time at STVT-SA and his latest honor – the ACCSC Outstanding Graduate of the Year Award – is very much deserved. Johnny is an inspiration and a testament that learning a skilled trade can lead to a path to a better life while helping others do the same.”
Accomplishments, Achievements and Honors
Johnny, a military veteran and family man, was honored by ACCSC as Graduate of the Year for his outstanding scholastic achievement, meaningful contribution to his profession and perseverance in overcoming adversity. Despite working a full-time job while in the HVAC program at STVT, Johnny’s accomplishments were many. He earned Student of the Month honors six times during his 10-month training program and was named the 2015 HVAC Valedictorian.
Known for arriving early and staying late after class to ask questions, Johnny was on campus so much that STVT administrators asked him to work in the facilities department through the federal work study program. Following graduation, Johnny got a position with Sears where he worked on refrigerators, ice machines and air conditioners. He eventually transitioned to the hospitality industry with Hyatt Hotels, where unsurprisingly he earned numerous promotions.
Today, Johnny is the Area Project Manager for Hyatt and is responsible for all major facilities projects at both the Hyatt Regency and the Grand Hyatt properties in San Antonio.
