CDL Training Program Details

The CDL Training: Class B driver training curriculum meets FMCSA Entry Level Driver Training (ELDT) Theory and Behind-the-Wheel requirements and prepares students for the required knowledge and skills tests to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B. Topics covered include Basic Operation, Safe Operating Procedures, Advanced Operating Procedures, Vehicle Systems and Reporting Malfunctions, and Non-Driving Activities.

*STVT does not guarantee third-party certifications. Certification requirements for taking and passing certification examinations are not controlled by STVT but by outside agencies and are subject to change by the agencies without notice to STVT. Therefore, STVT cannot guarantee that graduates will be eligible to take certification examinations, regardless of their eligibility status upon enrollment.

Program Requirements

Commercial Truck Driving is regulated by both the U.S Department of Transportation and the state.  Commercial Truck drivers are subject to strict standards including:

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Driving record meeting enrollment criteria
  • HS Diploma, GED, or acceptable equivalent
  • Be at least 18 years of age**
  • Be able to pass a DOT physical and drug test
