South Texas Vocational Technical Institute’s Business Studies program helps prepare you to pursue a career within businesses. This program provides instruction on topics such as business administration, customer service, accounting, sales and marketing, project management, and entrepreneurship. Students who complete this program may be prepared to perform general office duties, set goals and deadlines for departments, and compile information and records to draw up purchase orders for procurement. STVT is proud to offer a business studies program in South Texas. This program is offered at our McAllen campus only.

Diploma: 60 Credit Hours, 13 Months.

*STVT does not guarantee third-party certifications. Certification requirements for taking and passing certification examinations are not controlled by STVT but by outside agencies and are subject to change by the agencies without notice to STVT. Therefore, STVT cannot guarantee that graduates will be eligible to take certification examinations, regardless of their eligibility status upon enrollment.

Students can explore the legal, ethical, and social responsibilities managers face when working toward organizational goals. Students can also practice planning, organizing, leading, and overseeing projects.

Students can practice applying mathematical principles to situations they may encounter in the business world.

Students can familiarize themselves with the buyer’s journey, how to build and maintain relationships with customers, how to address customer concerns, and more.

Students can learn to conduct market research to better understand the needs and wants of different target audiences. Students can put their new skills to the test by creating a marketing plan for a business.

Students can learn the function of business writing in practical contexts and how to write for different audiences.

Students can discover how to gauge customer satisfaction, improve customer retention, address common problems customers may face, and more.
